Zero Waste Lab

Public lab for
circular design

From city waste to urban furniture

Citizens as
co-makers

  • In 2018, The New Raw launched the first full-scale pilot of Print Your City (www.printyour.city) and established the Zero Waste Lab in Thessaloniki, Greece. The Zero Waste Lab operated as an open-to-the-public recycling lab and experience centre, bringing digital fabrication into everyday urban life.

Equipped with a robotic arm and on-site recycling facilities, the space functioned as an interactive hub where citizens could take an active role in the circular economy. Visitors were invited to bring their plastic waste, co-design custom urban furniture, and follow the transformation of discarded material into functional public objects. By applying digital production technologies at a local scale, the Zero Waste Lab closed the plastic waste loop while fostering environmental awareness, innovation, and community participation within the city.
