Craft translated into contemporary material
-
Digital Fabrics explores the logic of knitting as a method for shaping recycled plastic into furniture with textile-inspired depth and tactility. The project introduces the idea of digitally upholstered objects, where layered 3D-printed surfaces behave like fabric while remaining structurally solid.
Through a curved geometry and a sculpted texture, the piece plays with light and shadow, creating surfaces that feel soft yet durable. The bench wrapped in this 3D-formed “fabric” combines organic lines with robotic precision, translating traditional craft techniques into a contemporary material language suited for interiors, exhibitions, and public environments.
