Furniture made

Material research
for sea plastics

A collection inspired
by the sea

  • The Second Nature Collection was developed for Blue Cycle using recycled plastic collected from the Greek sea. Alongside the design of the furniture, The New Raw developed the material research and fabrication process required to robotically 3D print this complex marine waste stream.

Originally conceived for the horeca industry, the collection was designed as a visible expression of cleaner coastlines and circular production. The flowing geometries draw inspiration from the movement of sea waves, while the woven surfaces explore the structural and tactile potential of large-scale 3D printing.

The colour palette references the tones of maritime ropes and fishing nets, as well as the bright synthetic colours frequently found in the sea. Through material innovation, robotic fabrication, and circular design, the project transforms discarded marine plastic into durable furniture with a direct connection to its origin.
