The Block Bench was custom designed for a Revive development in Mechelen, Belgium. As part of the neighbourhood activation, local residents were invited to donate their plastic waste, which was then recycled into new public benches for the area. Each bench seats three to four people and incorporates approximately 120 kg of recycled plastic.
The form and colour palette draw inspiration from the surrounding building facades, allowing the benches to integrate naturally into the local streetscape. Beyond providing seating, the project turns collective waste into visible urban infrastructure, strengthening the sense of ownership and community participation in sustainable design.
