Second Nature

Seashells shaped from
fishing nets

Material harvested from the seafloor

Crafting circular
material stories

  • For Second Nature, discarded fishing nets were collected from the seafloor of Galaxidi and transformed locally into digitally crafted seashells through desktop 3D printing. Developed in collaboration with cinematographer Daphne Matziaraki, the project follows the journey of these abandoned materials, revealing the environmental impact of marine pollution while assigning waste a new purpose.

By combining hands-on craft with digital fabrication, Second Nature explores how plastic can be reintroduced into everyday life as meaningful objects rather than debris. The process highlights the value of small-scale, local production and demonstrates how circular approaches can offer tangible responses to ocean waste and environmental responsibility.
