Comb

Brushstroke-inspired
facade relief

Permanent piece
on a port warehouse

Made from recycled
fishing ropes

  • Comb is a permanent wall installation measuring 12 sqm, located on the façade of an industrial warehouse in the port of Gdynia, Poland. Commissioned by the city’s 2022 Design Biennale, the work consists of seven digitally fabricated elements that interlock seamlessly to form a unified sculptural composition.

Inspired by the gestures of brush strokes, Comb translates painterly motion into architectural texture. Crafted in-house through robotic 3D printing, the piece is made from recycled plastic sourced from discarded fishing and shipping ropes; a material choice that reflects the maritime heritage of the site.

This site-specific intervention merges public art, circular design, and large-scale digital fabrication, offering a durable, expressive solution for architectural surfaces.
