Terra

built to last
A new geology

to age

Terra is a sculptural outdoor bench that explores how plastic waste can be transformed into permanent, architectural material. Designed for public and semi-public environments, its monolithic form invites gathering, leaning, resting.
Produced via robotic 3D printing, Terra is built layer by layer in subtly shifting tones. Its geological texture and carved form recall stone, but its material is unmistakably contemporary: recycled plastic shaped for permanence. By accepting colour variation, weathering, and patina as part of its design, Terra reframes aging not as damage, but as character.
Installed on the HTC Campus in Eindhoven, Terra responds to the need for informal, outdoor gathering. It consists of two sculptural volumes meeting in a central table-like surface, offering openness, utility, and visual weight.
Terra reflects on how synthetic materials might live in public space when treated with the same expectations we place on stone: long-term, adaptive, and here to stay.
